Rough nights are the new Advent: in contrast to the four weeks before Christmas, the time between Christmas and Epiphany offers space for contemplation and reorientation. There is hardly any time for contemplation in the year-end hustle and bustle before the festive season: Christmas aperitifs, drinking mulled wine, buying presents and so on. The Holy Nights, on the other hand, fall in the quiet time between Christmas and New Year. In this very special week between the years, when time often seems to stand still. These are the 11 days and 12 nights that lie between the lunar year with 354 days and the solar year with 365 days. They begin on the night of December 24th to 25th and end on the night of January 5th to 6th. These nights have been considered special and magical since Celtic times.
