Not only at Christmas time some of us have paused on streets or squares to pause for a moment for the beguiling scent of roasted chestnuts. Why not bring this fragrance home too?
The preparation, however, requires a skilful hand: the sweet chestnut (chestnut) is carved on the belly side before roasting. But a smooth, firm chestnut bowl lets the knife slip off. This has now come to an end, thanks to Jack, the Marroni Horror.
Carefully guide Jack's sawtooth blade over the chestnut's curvature, applying gentle to strong pressure. The nut remains unharmed, and the chestnut bowl bursts at the perforated well as soon as it is heated in the oven, on a hot plate or over an open fire.
